The Cowichan Valley has 17 elementary schools, some in a rural setting surrounded by beautiful farms and vineyards, some by the sea, surrounded by forests with mountain views and still others in suburban and town settings.

All of our schools offer excellent educational programs where students learn the fundamental skills of literacy and numeracy through personalized learning in a supportive learning environment.

Elementary education is organized from Kindergarten to Grade 7 (age 5-12 years old). Kind and supportive teachers will help International students make a smooth adjustment in experiencing Canadian culture and their new school. International students study along side their Canadian peers in our elementary schools. International students make friends naturally with their classmates as they study Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Art, Physical Education, Computer Studies and Music.

The school year begins in September and finishes at the end of June. September is the best time for students to start their program of study. International students attending kindergarten to grade 7 must be accompanied by their parents for the duration of their stay in the Cowichan Valley International Student Program.
